Health Centers Given $150M to Help Uninsured Americans Gain Coverage
- By BSTQ Staff
Approximately 1,200 health centers and 9,000 service delivery sites nationwide will receive $150 million in new funding from the Obama administration to enable them to help more uninsured Americans enroll in health coverage plans made available under the Affordable Care Act. The funding will allow health centers to hire new staff, improve the skills of current employees and sponsor community outreach activities and events. They also will help clients determine their eligibility, understand their coverage options, and offer one-on-one enrollment assistance for qualified health plans, Medicaid, the Children’s Health Insurance Program and the new Health Insurance Marketplace. The funding was issued by the Health Resources and Services Administration and aligns with the efforts of the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Service navigator program.
